The Last Week of School!

We survived another year of homeschooling!!  Good bye 5th and 1st grades, hello 6th and 2nd!

First Day of School
Last Day of School

It was a great week.  Here's what we did:

Monday:

Happy Memorial Day!  I finally got to meet up with a great friend for coffee in the morning :)  We had a standing weekly coffee date before I started homeschooling, but ever since, we've been lucky to get together once every two months.  It was great to catch up with her!  Afterwards, the fam and I had lunch, and went out to the Franconia Art Park.  It's a really crazy place!  Thank goodness pictures can tell a thousand words, because I don't really have the words to describe this place.

Tuesday:

Playgroup day!  I didn't take any pictures, but we went to the Science Museum of MN, I swear ;)  It was very relaxed.  Really, it was one of the best visits to the museum in quite a while.  We walked home in the rain, walked the neighbors dog in the rain, and then vegged out for the rest of the day.  Oh ya, we also did school work and had piano lessons.  Millie is finishing up the editing process for her Evolution of Calpurnia Tate book report.  I'm really impressed with her work so far!  Elise was supposed to have a math lesson, but she took it upon herself to do the worksheet on her own.  Turns out, she didn't need a lesson, math just comes naturally for her.  I'm so proud of my little girls.

Wednesday:

Finally a break in our rainy icky weather!  It was a perfect day to meet friends at the beach.  The kids swam and played in the sand.  I battled off inch worms, spiders, and moths.  For some reason I attract bugs this spring.  Gross.  Before leaving for our day in the sun, we had a morning full of school work.

Thursday:

T-2 days until the end of school!  Regular school work in the morning, and something fun in the afternoon.  At 2 we met up for bluebird trail training.  We have volunteered to monitor the 4-H bluebird trail every week for an indefinite amount of time :)  We got to see a lot of sweet little birds and some tiny little eggs.  (Two days later, Elise would find a very full wood tick in her head.  Poor baby.  We'll have to look closer next time)  In the evening the girls and I watched Living On One Dollar. It was such a great movie, very eye opening.  I think it touched the girls.  It was Part I of our compassion study.

Friday:

The last day of school!  It's finally here!  We finished Part II of our compassion study by going to the Compassion International tour.  We  walked through the home/experience of a girl in India.  It was amazing.  The girls really want to adopt a little girl from Compassion.  It was a great way to end the school year.

This is the end my friends!  It's all Summer updates from here on out ;)
